Okay, well I just download the demo. It sounds pretty awesome, but like more of the same from the Penumbra series.

Frictional Games is on pins & needles hoping this game sells well. Their future as a studio depends on it and the game was almost cancelled altogether:

Watch these guys freak out playing Amnesia.

It's not really that great until about the 4:00 min mark, but it's pretty funny from then on. He's in the water flooded scene I wrote about.

Jesus, I've tried to play Penumbra Overture, call me a pussy but the game just fucking scares me too much. I can't actually make myself play it anymore. I physically cannot play the game.

I'm tempted to just buy this anyway just to support the guys further. I've played through Silent Hill series, the Resident Evils, Project Zero etc. None of them have a patch on Penumbra, and if this is scarier than Overture - Fuck that. Kudos for making a genuinely scary game.

Here's a link to the developers writing about what has happened since the game has been released:

Long story short: the game is receiving rave reviews from both critics and players, but the sales aren't quite as good as expected and one reviewer leaked the game early to pirates.

I bought it on day 1 but I've only played it a little and it already creeps me the fuck out. It's probably for the best I don't play that game for the time being. I've just moved in to a Victorian house that is next to a big creepy church and a graveyard. I'm also living alone here until next Thursday.

Fun.
