Huh? I have Vista and the trial version of DJ works with no problems whatsoever.

And I'm on Windows 7 and it runs just fine for me. So, who knows really. I know on DJ, if it's a two session CDI, I disable "add post-gap to 3rd party images", put it on mode 1/dvd, block 2352 and set TOC to CD-ROM/DVD. I lower the burning speed to 4x, grab a cup of coffee and let 'er rip. I rarely have checked (actually I don't think I ever have) overburn to be honest.

But, DJ won't run on your system. So I'm not sure how much help this is. If you get it to run, try the above settings. It's done me right for a long time.

Try to get DJ to work. I have never successfully burned a Dreamcast game with any other program. DJ is the only one that works for me.

If you can get Disc Juggler to work on your system, follow this:

Wow, thanks for the replies everyone. Let me try and answer everyone's questions:

1. Yes I have games that are GD-Rom retail games, that do indeed work.
2. The dreamcast will read audio cd's including burned audio cd's.
3. Thanks for the tip on the fact that there may be multiple tries to get a cd to be read and boot.
4. Thanks for the obvious tip of using a friend's laptop. My roomie has XP on his. I will try using DJ on that with 4x, and the suggested settings from various people to see if this works.
5. A cup of coffee sounds like a great idea, considering I was up all night to no avail last night!

Discjuggler, discjuggler, disc juggler. DISC JUGGLER!

It's always worked for me on 98 (do you know how long it took to download a game on a dialup modem?), XP, Vista and 7. (download the latest trial from their website, don't download it from these download aggregate sites like softpedia etc, they don't always have the latest version available) The trial works flawlessly, you don't need the extra shit the paid version gives you (like networked burning, full speed burns etc) the trial will burn everything at the lowest speed possible for your drive (a major plus, it's easier for the laser to read). Don't fuck about with Alcohol120% it's expensive, the trial is junk (if it even works) and if you're gonna pirate it, judging on the comments on 99% of it's torrents, it's almost always full of malware/trojans/you name it.

When you have DJ installed, just double click on the .cdi (it should look like a blueish piece of paper with a gold disc on it - I think, i'm on my Mac. If not then you need change the file access defaults which you can do by shift-right clicking and open with and then checking the default check box when you select DJ or you can do it through control panel, it varies on all windows versions - google it) then click the burn button. You don't have to do anything else, unless it prompts you to fix the image. DON'T FIX IT. This will either turn your self-booting image into a non-sb game, or a coaster, don't do it.

I've burned some backups and they will run. Then after some time stop working. Then working again. I think it's just luck, the type of media and the cd burner.
Thanks everyone...

Woooohooo! Thanks everyone! I successfully burned a playable game disc! What worked for me was using Disc Juggler on Windows XP, following the instructions in the link provided by wip3outguy7. I hope that others will find this topic on google and it helps them too.

Nice! Just don't expect the same combination to work with all games. Sometimes you have to try different things for each one.
Thanks everyone...

Alright, thanks for the tip. Hopefully it won't take as many CD-R's next time.
