final fight series vs streets of rage series

Never really cared for SOR series... or Genesis games in general TBH. So Final Fight wins it for me! I remember beating the Arcade game... it might have been the first Arcade game I ever beat... I remember I wrote down the date, time, and how many quarters it took!

... Musically though, the original Streets of Rage is the best of the series. I don't care what anyone says, it had a better soundtrack than Streets of Rage 2

and in case i'm over shadowing the final fight series. final fight was my first favorite beat em up and i still remember the day i finished the game. 16 bit sweet memories for me.

Final Fight and Streets of Rage....what great memories those two games bring back.

Honestly, I loved both series. But for me I'd have to go with Final Fight 1 and 3 and Streets of Rage 1 and 2.

both series have been outclassed by SO many beat'em ups that have come out since then. There are tons of beat'em ups that are FAR better than any Final Fight or Streets of Rage game.

what are some other beat-them ups that you like better than FF and SOR? i really don't know too many. i know of the golden axe series and pretty much all of the ones from the 8-bit era.

i also know there is a FF/SOR rip off on the neo geo. i am not sure of the name though.

Guardian Heroes(Sega Saturn)
Any number of arcade games by Capcom(Battle Circuit, Cadillacs and Dinosaurs, Aliens vs Predator, Armored Warriors, Dungeons and Dragon:Shadow over Mystara)
Simpsons Arcade
TMNT 4(S-NES)-Totally pawns the arcade version
Battletoads Arcade
Golden Axe: Revenge of Death Adder
Mortal Kombat:Shaolin Monks(PS2)
Dynasty Warriors 3 and 5(PS2)

I'd take any one of these games over a Final Fight or Streets of Rage game if given the choice

i'd still take the old school beat em up over some of the newer ones on that list.

Armored Warriors and AVP are more complex and interesting than both series, IMO

On a random note, anyone else think Blaze looked much cooler in the original SOR than she did in the sequels?

Lot of things I like more about SOR than the sequels. I liked tossing people off ledges and elevators, making them sneeze with pepper, I liked the boss theme a LOT more, and I liked Blaze's character design better
