Are we having fun yet? And do we need to?
Re: Are we having fun yet? And do we need to?
The games I get the most playtime out of, I've never beat. Ninja Gaiden, is a good example. I still haven't beat it and i got it between Megaman 2 and 3's release. I love it and eventually intend to beat it. My friend played through it about a year ago and it was the most intense NES session I ever watched. Another example is the Roguelike Ragnarok/Valhalla for DOS. I've had it on every computer I ever owned that was capable of playing it, probably found it around 1995. I have never been able to play through it and that's what keeps me coming back for more. Both games don't let you continue tho. When you're dead, you're dead. Actually not exactly true, Ragnarok keeps a record of your older, dead characters, including all their inventory and abilities and leaves them roaming around as zombies. If you can survive being attacked and kill your old character, you can take everything you collected collected earlier beef up for the final battle, but when you're aiding gods in the final clash, there's a very small chance of survival.
