Let's be honest, we have absolutely nothing to base a linear feeling on from this trailer. Heck, that one section where you're in the swamp and are looking for that one powerup or switch or whatever was more open looking (if you see the minimap it's not just a thin corridore, you have movement freedom). And I recall seeing another room that was larger and more Metroid-y. Let's see what a hands on shows us to really get a sense of how the game plays out. A trailer will always focus on the exciting parts, and exploration isn't "exciting".Devezu wrote:Hmn...
I'm a bit skeptical. It seems... too linear. I for one LOVE that - I enjoy a good platformer (does the person run and jump, and for a majority of the time have to use those skills to navigate the terrain and get around obstacles? If so, it's a platformer.) the, and this one looks really good. However, I know many of you out there liked the fact that the original 2D entries into the series like the fact that it focused on "exploration" and "discovery" - the fact that you could roam around for a bit discovering anything before getting on with the story.
tl;dr summary - You will hate it if you lieked Metroyed on teh NES, you will liek it if you enjoyed the newer games.

Hmm, it looks like this game will combine the Metroid Prime games with their (S)NES predecessors. It'll be interesting to say the least.
(Wish I could use a GameCube controller, though.)

Yeah, the second I saw the Wii-Mote on it's side I went "OH SHIT!!! I CAN USE MY SUPER FAMI CLASSIC CONTROLLER!!!!!" but then she pointed it at the screen and my mind just goes "Oh, that's cool, not like I haven't done it before." nut I'm still pretty excited.GSZX1337 wrote:Hmm, it looks like this game will combine the Metroid Prime games with their (S)NES predecessors. The trailer was just how I like my Metroid trailers, fast, slick, explosiony (word?), dark, featuring the black Wii I oh so crave to get my paws on (DAMN YOU EUROPE, AUSTRAILIA AND JAPAN!!!!!!

The control scheme bothers me a bit, I would really like an analog stick to control Samus with. Maybe it'll have multiple control schemes.

Why do you want analog? The game's 90% in 2D!Dylan wrote:The control scheme bothers me a bit, I would really like an analog stick to control Samus with. Maybe it'll have multiple control schemes.

Nah, the Wii's D-Pad is just fine (At least it is on my launchie wiimote) it's all about hand position and grip after which it's just like any old Nintendo D-Pad and reminds me of the original GBA's D-Pad which was awesome.

Yeah, I think the D-Pad is comfortable with the "jacket" on the Wiimote.
