It's totally awesome to be reunited with the console/games you loved as a kid. It's fun playing other games or systems you didn't have, but nothing tops revisiting the old friends. Have fun!

edit: Wow, I don't remember being THAT drunk. It's been 15 years, not 17.

Made a pickups video for my youtube channel and included the Genesis and Ranger X in it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ib4F_XndG8U

I finaly got my megadrive today :D

I'll pick it up at lunch time! $50 isnt too bad. Its got a heap of old master system games (with the adapter!) and two mega drive games and two atari 2600 controlers :D

I just need to find a 9V~1A DC adapter at home then I can hook it up :D

Only down side is that it doesnt have AV... just crappy HF out >_<

Can anyone post up a pinout? I've got the standard cable... if anyone knows what colour wire does what... please pm me ^^

That would be such a cool feeling to once again own something you owned 17 years ago. The nostalgia will be overwhelming when you get a copy of one of your favourite games again. :)
I thought what I'd do was, I'd pretend I was one of those deaf-mutes.

Another happy genesis owner.

Two types, would one of these help?

Good for you man. I also traded in my Genesis model 2 in the mid 90's with most of my games (everything except Streets of Rage 2) to Funcoland, for credit towards an N64. One of my biggest regrets.

I got a Genesis model 3 and a model 2 again, a few years back and have about 15 games. But I'm still missing a few games that I originally had (Sonic 3, Sonic & Knuckles, Mic & Mac's Adventure, The Last Battle).

I also would like to get complete copies of Outrun, Phantasy Star IV and the Golden Axe titles (all of which I only played elsewhere or rented before).

been playing my new/old model 2 megadrive :D

I only have 2 megadrive games and about 6 or seven SMS games...

It seems the system has a few problems. I think the cartridge connector needs to be replaced. Its super sensitive... I thought it might be dust, or built up dirt/oxidisation on the contacts, but after inserting a card a few hundred times and blowing like crazy, its working... but that was also after I resoldered the tabs on the cartridge its self. It even took some time to get the flux coating of to get a good contact.

I really need to replace the RF cable too... its way to susceptible to noise. just touching the cable disturbs the signal >_<

It also seems that I have one dead SMS cartridge... what should I do guys?

*Edit* Perhaps it could be a problem with my power supply :S It didnt come with a power supply so I hooked up a 9V~1.1A AC to DC adapter... is the model 2 supposed to have 10V?

The US model 2 is 10 volt, yes. Not sure about other places, but it should probably say on the bottom of the console. That might be what's making it flaky.
