Everything Sierra ever released on the AGI or SCI 1.0 engine. Seriously, Sierra did not release a bad game during that period. Maybe start with Space Quest or Leisure Suit Larry, lots of fun and very funny. I think the AGI games are even supported by ScummVM now.

Space Quest 1-3 and Kings Quest 1-4 are on Scumm I know for a fact, but I believe most of them work through it.

Umm. Are Sierra's games controlled by mouse or keyboard? Never was into them so I wouldn't know.

The Shenmue series is a great addition too, if unorthodox.

There are a lot of games here that I thought were ps2/xbox only

I am having second thoughts on owning extra consoles when i can get them for my laptop

It depends on the game. Later games were point'n'click, but Space Quest 1-3, Kings Quest 1-4?, Leisure Suit Larry 1-3, and a bunch more were controlled using the arrow keys and entering commands.

Oh, Peasant's Quest on homestarrunner.com is a pretty good game of that type, but you'd probably enjoy it more after playing the King's Quest series.

There are also a ton of old text adventure games from Infocom and Legend. In "Eric the Unready", you kind of have the option to play it as a point'n'click game or a straight-up, keyboard only adventure game.

Also, I second the recommendation of Grim Fandango.

What is the reason for the non-point-and-click requirement?

Most likely to control the characters using a gamepad?

I think you mean ScummVM, saying just Scumm makes that a really odd sentence.

Well, technically he's right, since SCUMM stands for Script Creation Utility for Maniac Mansion. So he's right in saying that they run on SCUMM. SCUMMVM is simply a Virtual Machine for the SCUMM.

They dont run on Scumm though....Only Lucasarts (LucasFilm Games) used SCUMM, not Sierra.
