The sole reason I never would play an MMO is because of monthly fees. I'm a cheapskate. Which is probably a good reason why I play more retro games.
NES, SNES, PS1, N64, DC, PS2, GCN, Wii, PS3, 360, GB, GBC, GBA, GBA SP, PSP 3000, and 3DS XL

I played WoW for 4.5 years, ended up 'making' over $1000 from it on selling my accounts. Some of my best gaming memories of all time are from that game.

But what did I learn? Moderation. I wouldn't go back in time to change my decision to play. But I would go back in time to not have played it so much. Not that I felt I was spending too much time playing games in general, but more for giving other games very little to no attention. For the first year or so I didn't play anything else. I put at least 150 days of played time in the game over the 4.5 years. I could've beat 180 20 hour games in that same time. So let's say instead I had put 30 days played into WoW. Those 120 days could've beat 144 20 hour games. And I imagine those 144 20 hour games and 30 days of WoW would've given better overall memories than 150 days, much of it spent on playing the same content I had already done.
