Which gaming magazine is the best right now?

Magazine is okay not great not enough Retro. Go through Gamestop if you want it though. The subscription basically pays for the annual membership of used game discounts with Gamestop.

Yeah, but - just like I can read manga for free on the internet but refuse to - I just prefer to have it in my hands. Hell, I can't even try to read anything that was meant for print on the computer.

Nothing beats holding the print. But if your cell phone reads PDF's its very handy.

I also have to go with Play magazine. The writers they have are pretty decent, and the articles they come up with can be unique and not found elsewhere. I especially like how they devote a section of the mag to anime as well, because I don't pay much attention to up and coming anime anymore, but I like to know if anything good is coming in the near future.

I used to have a ton of subscriptions, but as it was stated, most gaming news can be found for free on the web, and a magazine that wants your money has to offer enough content for it to be worthwhile. Can't just be reviews, that's what metacritic is for.

I remember I used to have a subscription to PSM as a kid. I loved it as I had o other source of information about games. I still like browing through my old issues and remembering the excitement of upcoming games or reading reviews at the time praising/bashing games. I remember it later turned completely towards ps2, and I'm not sure whatever happaned to it as I moved a lot and no longer had enough room to be packing around game magazines and the english shonen jump books.

It's weird. I have one PSM magazine from 1997 and I still read it from time to time. But I have not even played any of the games featured or reviewed in that issue...

The best info on games is on the web, not in magazines. Don't waste your money.

I'd have to disagree. I think with print come mores accountability, resulting in better journalism and more integrity.

I would say Play is the top print magazine. The sheer fact they don't put scores on their reviews is a main selling point for me. Context is key.

gamesTM is decent but I imagine shipping charges will be enormous. They're not hesitant to rate down those overhyped shite titles since they don't rely much on advertising revenues (At least from my experience a few years back. Don't buy many magazines myself). Heck the same can't be said for most of the most-visited game-related websites.
