Keep in mind the basic principal how a battery works. It is a transfer of electrons from cathode plate to anode plate. As the corrosion process on the plates progresses, over time the battery has less internal active surface area of Cathode to Anode. Over a period of time you run into diminishing returns on run time and drain-recharge cycles.SpaceBooger wrote:Anapan - If I have a bunch of rechargeable nimh energizer and duracell batteries that don't hold a charge anymore - if I got the MH-C204W I could get those old batteries to work right?
But if I get the first one I posted it will only work with new batteries... or am I wrong? Sorry all of this is new to me.
There are other considerations in addition to cost of rechargeable batteries.
The higher the MAH rating, say a 2700 battery, the longer the run time but less cycles of recharges before battery wears out. A lower 2200 MAH rated battery will have less run time but more drain-recharge cycles can be accomplished.
So box of alkalines vs tray of rechargebles at 750 recharges before dying?Blade Runner Movie wrote: "The light that burns twice as bright lasts half as long".
You do save money overall by going rechargeable but for the longest one time cycle, an alkaline will have the longest run time.
However if you steer away from basic AA batteries and go with hailrazer's Sony Li-Polymer Battery mod it should give you the best run time. That Sony battery is better then six rechargeable AA batteries.
I linked hailrazer's cool Nomad mods for others to see.

You could also mod the Nomad to accept a 12 volt to 9 volt car adaptor.
