Yes, I beat it shortly after it was released. I remember doing a little dance in my living room when I finally beat Sephiroth.

How many hours were you in when you finished it, and how many times did you battle him?

I truthfully could not recall this from back then. Actually it had been so long that some of it is like playing it the first time again LOL

I don't remember, honestly. Probably 40-50 hours in, maybe 4-5 times going deep into the final battle before I won. It was sooo long ago now!

Couldn't. Got very boring after the first half hour or so.

I can see your point on that. Though you may be a little biased as I have the impression you are into carts far more than anything else!

you are correct in yr assumptin that I tend to enjoy pre-CD games MORE, but FF7 is sort of one of the games that drew a line in the sand and made me stay where I was if you know what I mean. I mean, I certainly investigated later games (I had PS1, PS2, Gamecube, PSP, etc) but for the most part I always tend to prefer a game that leans towards FFVI rather than FFX if that clears things up... so FFVII to me is kind of that transitional moment in the series that lead to the shit I don't like.

I went over the clock on that game. I did everything but beat the last couple Ultimates. That game made me awkward.

I was in college so I played all night, because in college on the weekdays who needed sleep, and beat it in a couple months.
I beat it, but I did have, and still do, have the Verses guide. With the guide I knew exactly how much grinding and what to expect to keep me from getting bored.

I was actually thinking of picking up this game because of all the great reviews it had gotten. The only FFX I have beaten is FFX but that was very long and tedious but the cut scenes held me over. Think I should venture onto FF7? Actually just now I remembered that FF13 is coming out so maybe I should just play that.

i played all the way through in the summer of 1999. i committed myself pretty deeply, going as far as collecting the knights of the round materia. truth be told, i was coming out of a longtime depression during this period (having lost a close friend) and the game's story ended up being somewhat therapeutic for me.

You may be disapointed with the amount of cut scenes in 7, in my opinion there are not as many in that as the others. I actually thought it was slim in that catagory. The 13 coming out is the thing that has me wanting to relive these.
