My condolences. I've had to live through both my grandfathers and a great-uncle, all of whom I was fairly close to, die, so I know how it feels.

Sorry to hear it, but just try to take solace in having been able to enjoy their time and all the good memories you have of them. Three of my grandparents were dead before I was born, and I've never been close to the only living one I've had. So I can't really relate to what it's like to be close to a grandparent and have no real memories of them to cherish or think about.

Sorry to hear that DNT. I know you mentioned recently she was rather sick. At least you have the chance to say goodbye to her properly...

As others have said, be there and say your good byes and be glad you can. I lost my last grandparent a little over a year ago. She went into the hospital and it didn't seem very serious and I didn't have a chance to visit. Then some complication came up and she was gone before I could make it. I hope you all quickly find your peace.

I'm sorry to hear this, its always sad to lose anyone close to you especially family. Your situation sounds very similiar to what just happened to me over thanksgiving. My grandpa was also dying of cancer. He became very weak in his last weeks, he was confined to a hospital bed in his house where my dad took care of him. I was lucky enough though to see him the day before he died and talk to him on thanksgiving :( . I hope you get through this okay. best wishes.

Death is inescapable. everyone dies, Memories never die.
for some odd reason, I feel more saddened thinking about the loss my grandfather will have to go through. I feel worse for him than her.
