Yeah I'm completely disgusted with Sony's conduct in this matter. The YLOD is a real problem, Sony's nonchalance over the issue is just flabbergasting. They simply won't accept that it is a wide spread issue and is almost on par with RROD (I know just as many people with RROD 360s as PS3 owners with YLODs, thankfully it hasn't happened to me. *touch wood* granted that isn't a fair sample but still.)

Sony need to get their act together and start replacing these consoles for free, or at the very least, repairing the same damn unit that you send to them!

I've seen you make this claim before, but never support it with anything but the must anecdotal evidence. From anything I've read, the YLOD is FAR less common, and more "on par" with other kinds of typical hardware failure problems for any other console from the last decade. The RROD, on the other hand is unprecedented in the percentage of failures...

Especially when bricking occurs during a system update from Sony website.

Perhaps user error could have occurred. Did you check the MD5 on the binary before writing it to flash? Why were you doing the update from the website? Why not just use Sony's inbuilt software update?

That is what I meant, the built in update which comes directly from Sony. Already fixed, just upset about the Sony tap dance and having to kick out 162 bucks for the repair.

Maybe I'm in the minority, but I have all 3 current gen systems which includes a 60GB PS3 and close to launch model Wii. My Wii and PS3 run great and there played much more than any of my 360s were. I've personally gone through 4 360s already 2 of them being newer models. Now thats a big fucking problem. I don't play the thing as much as my others and theres plenty of air for my systems to ventilate. While I think Sony does a have issue with launch model PS3s, and there is no excuse for them ignoring it, the newer ones are much more reliable. Even newer 360s however still get the RROD. I feel Microsoft has a much larger problem than Sony does due to the fact that even newer 360s still RROD, while Sony has already solved there hardware issues. As much as I love games I'm going to steer clear Microsoft's next abomination of hardware. I just feel its very poorly engineered and made.

I've had a 360 since launch, and it's never RRoD. :D
