Re: Bootleg cart at Gamestop = fail
This happened to a friend of mine a couple years back, except something like four out of the seven carts he bought from GameStop were bootlegged. He would of never known if he hadn't asked me why one of them wouldn't keep his save game. I looked at the carts and noticed the lack of Nintendo logo on the pins. It is usually a dead giveaway.

The most important information in this thread is the $10 Williams collection. I have it for the Wii already and it is by far the most awesome, most realistic pinball game you can play. I will be heading out to pick up the PS3 or 360 version later today

one thing I don't really understand... how come GBA piracy is so widespread, but our resident repro-genius Ziggy says that making a GBA repro would be really hard? I'm just curious if they're so hard to make, how come there's so many GBA bootlegs floating around?
Re: Bootleg cart at Gamestop = fail
Well, as you can see...the bootlegs are your typical chinese bootleg quality. Repros are different because you take an existing game and make it into something else, whereas with bootlegs they make their own (crappy) board from scratch, then program in whatever game they are trying to pass off.noiseredux wrote:one thing I don't really understand... how come GBA piracy is so widespread, but our resident repro-genius Ziggy says that making a GBA repro would be really hard? I've got two bootleg GBA carts(hey, they were a gift), and one of the easiest tells I've noticed, and one that a GS employee won't be able to refute, would actually be hidden on the back of the cart. Instead of saying "Nintendo", both of mine say "Nintondo." If you peel back the price sticker and it says that, you should be able to point it out to them.
On the other hand, you did just get a bootleg for $5, and I kinda like having mine for comedic value.

Unfortunately, that's the truth and saying the difference is like night and day is a real exaggeration.AARST wrote: But I guess only nerds would say that... >.>
Way too much hate for GS employees in the gaming community. I've met some really cool ones

I've definitely met some cool ones, who go above and beyond and genuinely seem to care about helping me find something rare that I'm seeking out.
