I actually sort of agree. Not that I do not want people voting just because they do not agree with me but I do not want dumb people to be allowed to vote. That is the majority of people as it is. Scary to think that some of these people can have even a minimal effect on policy.
No government is ever perfect. I think what we have here is pretty good. If you don't like it, you can always move to a different country.
Moving to a different country is not as easy done as said. Besides, lots of people love the land of their birth yet disagree with the form of government practised there.

Oh dear God no. It's bad enough that those that actually make the effort to go vote usually pick the wrong candidate/ballot measure. Think how bad it will be for those that can't make an effort and find it too easy to vote online!

I hear that's actually a big problem in Australia these days.
To be honest with you, I am not even sure anymore myself. My mind has changed the past couple of years about ideals I have held most of my life.
Edit: That said there are a lot of residuals left from previous beliefs. Sometimes I tell myself I do not care about something anymore but then I find myself getting in a hissy about it. Something about old habits and dying hard I would guess.

ZING!
I'm all for bringing back having to pass an IQ test to vote, but not what was tied to that.
Other things that should require passing an IQ exam:
Driving
Having unprotected sex
Purchase of firearms
Getting a passport
Using those self scanning things at grocery stores
Playing Madden 09 (oh wait. they do that)
Entrance into major sporting events
Dating my sister
Waiters giving dinner suggestions
@Octopod, so what is the general feeling on the two candidates? I hear the republican is good-looking and likable, while the democrat keeps saying stupid things that piss off her base. Does the republican come off as a big tool?
