Yup, it's a great pad! The only other pad with that "clicky" feeling in on the Neo Geo Pocket, as far as I know. When you first feel the joystick, it really seems... lame... but then when you actually use it, WOW! it really does work well.dedalusdedalus wrote:You guys gave excellent advice.
I just got a Neo Geo CD controller from Japan for 23.50 shipped, and I'm loving it. The joystick nub is surprisingly responsive, and it has this awesome "clicky" feel to it that really hasn't been used anywhere else.

I would just like to make you aware, the joysticks are notorious for developing a problem where they wont work intermittently. Luckily, it's just because plastic dust clogs the contacts, and it's an easy fix.dedalusdedalus wrote:I just got a Neo Geo CD controller from Japan for 23.50 shipped, and I'm loving it. I've got a third party PS1 pad with one of those clicky 'dpad' nubs. It's awesome. I swore by it for fighters on the PS1 really responsive controller. Sadly I can't remember who made it, it's currently packed away in the loft at my mother's house.Breetai wrote:Yup, it's a great pad! Re: Recommendations on Neo Geo AES controller
After having started this thread and gotten some awesome advice, I'm just going to go ahead and add to the pool of knowledge. The Neo Geo CD controller is definitely the best controller to use for platforming games like Magician Lord or Blue's Journey, and it does the job well enough if you want to play a fighting game. If you really want absolutely perfect control for fighting games, go with the MAS Neo-Geo Pro Stick. This is an arcade-perfect experience:

Re: Recommendations on Neo Geo AES controller
X-Arcade should make a Neo Geo adapter, but I guess they figure there aren't enough people with an AES to bother and MVS owners already have a joystick setup (since most people keep it as an arcade rather than a supergun, plus I believe most superguns just use whatever connector they feel like.).

I don't know why I didn't mention this before, but...

This adapter lets you use a PS1 or PS2 controller on your NeoGeo AES or CD console. It's kind of nice because it gives you turbo buttons and lets you use the analog stick. Of course I'd opt for the NeoGeo CD pad but I thought it was a nice option.
Tototek has adapters like that for many system, too.

OMG, Fuck yeah! Now you can use the X-Arcade via PS2 adapter+AES adapter (don't worry about daisy chains, I do it with my Dreamcast and its Total Control Plus all the time and it works great).Ziggy587 wrote:I don't know why I didn't mention this before, but...

Now I can finally play Genesis and SNES with a real arcade stick without needing emulation, but oh wait, I can do it with emulation...oh well, cool anyway.
Re: Recommendations on Neo Geo AES controller
You mentioned you didnt like the feel of the Neo's arcade stick. These can be easily swapped out. Also, someone said the buttons can't be swapped out.. not true.
Here is a video of a guy who swapped out all buttons, joystick.... and made it wireless.

Those pro sticks on arcade shock are badass though. Will be my next purchase.
