Re: Sega CD backups not playing
its not your sega cd its the images. I have tried getting lunar to work on a real machine but all the rips I have do not work in anything other than an emulator. From what I hear it is a timing issue do the the cue of the music being off which causes the game to freeze or not even load at all. I tried the burning cds slower and different sega cds everytime same issue. I tried lunar from emuparadise underground gamer and p2p programs. If you are able to direct copy the cd it works fine but I havent found a good rip.
Re: Sega CD backups not playing
Well, like I said, none of the other games I'm trying are really working either. Even when I took my real copy of bouncers and turned it into a bin/cue and burned it onto one of my blanks, it didn't work very well. The menu worked and I could watch the videos, but gameplay didn't work.Amon wrote:its not your sega cd its the images. What speed are you burning your disk at? What brand discs do you have? These two things could mean EVERYTHING.
Re: Sega CD backups not playing
Taiyo Yuden CD-Rs, and I'm using the trial version of CDRWIN, so it limits me to the lowest speed possible, which I think is 4x. I've also tried IMGburn, but for some reason when I choose 4x in IMGburn it says it can't and automatically decides to burn at 16x. Must be something with my Lite-On drive.Ziggy587 wrote:What speed are you burning your disk at? What brand discs do you have? These two things could mean EVERYTHING.

I am certain it is your image. I have also tried the UG image about 100 different ways LOL. I have gotten it to work but you have to convert all of the mp3s into wavs and you also may have to edit the cue file. The software will not recognize the mp3s therefore you get something like sonic with no music, only souind effects which are embedded into the image, they are not extra tracks like background music.
Truthfully though, no matter what I did the best I could do was to get Lunar to load and play for awhile, but it always decided to freeze at one point or another.

Re: Sega CD backups not playing
The Sonic image I got was a Bin/Cue rip, not an iso/mp3 rip so it should've had music. I tried the Lunar iso/mp3 rip from coolroms, and followed the steps exactly using winlame to convert to wav files and then using sega cue maker, but it still didn't get past the Lunar title menu.wclem wrote:I am certain it is your image. Honestly I'm sitting here playing it in Kega and it's working fine so I don't think I'm going to bother wasting more CD-Rs. I really didn't think this was going to be such a pain. I guess I'll just have to wait until Pier Solar comes out to have a use for this Sega CD I bought (and even then, Pier Solar itself is on a cart and just uses the CD for better audio quality, so I'm not sure it was worth paying $30 for this Sega CD

Could be. Some drives won't even burn that slow. Neither of the drives in my mail PC will go that slow either. I usually use my crappy old laptop since it will do 4X.Redmist wrote: I've also tried IMGburn, but for some reason when I choose 4x in IMGburn it says it can't and automatically decides to burn at 16x. Re: Sega CD backups not playing
No bin + cue rips for SCD have ever worked for me. Thus far the only iso + mp3 rips that didn't want to work for me was Silpheed - it would work fine on an emulator with perfect sync but would freeze a little while in when played on the console.
Lunar and Popful Mail froze up on the logo screen for me too, at first - I think those were just broken images (I generally find Romhustler to be the most reliable).
Also, if you let the title screen for Lunar fade out and don't press anything, it will freeze. Keep pressing start on the title screen.
I think the cue file has to be named the same as the iso, so best make sure they do.

This could just be a problem with the game - apparently it is liable to freeze whenever a certain track is played (track 20, Big Boss). Doesn't always happen, but it does happen.Truthfully though, no matter what I did the best I could do was to get Lunar to load and play for awhile, but it always decided to freeze at one point or another.

That's nice to know. I wasn't pressing start at the Lunar screen. I just tried a few of the copies I've burned, so far all of them have frozen shortly after the intro dialogue, after it zooms in on the shrine.Pingfa wrote:No bin + cue rips for SCD have ever worked for me. So, I just downloaded Sonic Megamix: http://info.sonicretro.org/Sonic%20the% ... #Downloads
It's a single .iso file, I just burned it, popped it in the Sega CD and it plays great (WITH music, unlike the copy of Sonic CD I burned). Why is it so hard to get real Sega CD games to work when I can get a homebrew game working so easily? The music in the game worked fine without a cue sheet, why can't people just rip real Sega CD games to .iso?
