It's not the most brilliant game in the world, but it has good graphics, lots of guys to beat up, and Batman.
Hopefully the sequel gets some greater variety though. I felt like his gliding ability was not as cool as it could have been because you can only go so high up. Also, the batmobile, batcycle, and batboat need to be drivable. I think he needs an extra ability too, I haven't played it in about a month but I think the only thing the A button did was make him run, which could just be done by having different speeds on the stick. They could have the A button do a different attack maybe.
If the sequel, which is supposed to take place in the city, is broken down into small environments I'm going to be dissapointed. I'm not expecting GTA: gotham (though I'd like that) but the environments need to be a lot more open.
Yet somehow I'm envisioning a lot of burning car pile ups blocking roads.....

Re: Arkham Asylum - Am I missing anything?
I really enjoyed Arkham Asylum, but I can see where some people would find it repetitive. I found most of my enjoyment in searching for all of the Riddler's Challenges.

dude. I'm almost 30. heh.Luke wrote:Agreed. Younger gamers expect instant gratification, but sometimes you have to give the game a fair shot.
AA is really repetitive. I thought it was over rated as well.
It isn't about instant gratification. It is about having a STACK of games that i want to play, or at least try and having a very narrow window to do it. I try to cram as much gaming in as possible so it takes a lot to keep me hooked.
batman did, only because I'm a big batman nerd. However, much needed improvement on that game. I can't believe it made Yahtzee's zero punct game of the year.

I was referring to Ryan in my post, not you; Ryan stated that after 20 minutes of playing a game, his mind was made up.nickfil wrote: dude. I'm almost 30. heh.

Re: Arkham Asylum - Am I missing anything?
The Bioshock-inspired (another overrated title) atmosphere was the main thing that kept me going.. And why is the combat so simplistic? This also annoyed me in Ass Creed II.. It needn't be as complex as Shenmue but give us something that requires more than two buttons!

I'm not all about instant gratification, but within 20 minutes you can usually tell if you like the gameplay and/or if the story is going to make you want to keep playing.Luke wrote:I was referring to Ryan in my post, not you; Ryan stated that after 20 minutes of playing a game, his mind was made up.nickfil wrote: dude.
