I'm as quick to denounce brainless movies as anyone, but if you don't like the above, there's probably no hope for you ever liking an actually well-made popcorn flick.

Granted we're arguing with movie logic, but like a real soldier, the mech would only be able to carry so much ammo. Unless of course we're talking about space mech John Woo Special. Having a knife makes sense like a bayonet for the same combat reasons as well as the fact they're in a jungle setting. At least the gun was disabled instead of using a cliche moment of running out of ammo at the wrong time.

It's obvious that Crux has never run into the Axeman or Hatchetman.

Is it wrong that I kept wanting the humans to scream "For the Emperor!"

The movie was much better then I thought it would be, but I went in with low expectations and was pleasently suprised. Yeah the story is not original but what in hollywood is anymore. The CGI looked better then the previews. The knife kinda bothered me but only because it wasn't an attachment which would have seemed better. My brother who saw the movie with me said, most likely the knife isn't standard but something he personally wanted on his mech because he thinks of it like an extention of himself, no other mech driver was moving with the same dexterity as he was. What bothered me the most was that the ships had a flimsy windshield that a giant arrow could pierce. I think a modern helicopter could withstand that. But all and all it was a good movie going experience.

Was I the only one a little turned on by the Navi women?

Others have said they thought the Navi were ugly. I thought they were pretty sleek and sexy myself.

The knife was pure rule of cool. It wasn't supposed to make sense. The Colonel wasn't supposed to make sense, he just blows stuff up. And he's awesome.

The movie is crap if you are genre-savy. But if you are really genre-savy you can clearly see that they didn't care, they just wanted to make a cool movie and that you are not supposed to take it that way. It's not exactly subtle.

MST3K mantra for me.
