Question About EB Games/GameStop

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

Maybe there is a local retro game shop near where you live? Or a Play N Trade? They take old stuff in. I dumped some crappy Saturn games off on them. I only got 2 bucks for like 5 games, but to be fair most were disc only and sports games. The retro store wouldnt take them because of the condition they were in. They all worked but mostly disc only or missing something.

I know they're not going to take PS1 stuff. The way they've been blowing out oXB stuff around me those are gonna be iffy. PS2 I imagine they're still taking, but I bet they're only going to take 'good' stuff.
No, we're taking everything.

That's how GameStop works, we take everything for pennies just so that we can keep you coming.

The store I work at doesn't take Gamecube games. We just can't take them in anymore - we don't have the room. The district manager is already well aware of it.

However, we do have another store in the area that does take Gamecube games. They have a lot more space than the store I work at.

Still, that doesn't mean that your DM isn't breaking some very big rules by approving that.

How big is your store? Mine is about 25ft deep and 17 ft wide so it's already minuscule.

Not sure how big it is. It's pretty much just a hole in the wall. We don't even have room for an X360 display.

There's an EB Games close to where I live that sells more original Xbox games than anything. It's like 4 shelves of just original Xbox games and a bunch of bins with Gamecube and PS2 games. I just wasn't sure if they bought them anymore.

As others have said... Gamestop won't take items that are 2+ generations old (PS1, N64, Dreamcast); with XBox being the only one that they dropped earlier than Nintendo and Sony.

This is somewhat off-topic... but a good reason to sell your stuff online or to racketboy members than to do store credit:

I got Soul Calibur IV for PS3 used as a Christmas gift this year (it came in that generic Gamestop case w/ no manual... how do people still lose the damn cases for these things????). Needless to say, it had been over 7 days and I could not return the used item for the $27 it had been purchased for. I went to the store to see if they had a copy of the game with the real case and manual to swap with, but they had 3 that were generic :? At first I asked if the store could cash it, but it was over the time limit. I asked what the trade in was for it... and it was $3 loooooool He then mentioned it would be better to sell it online or something of the sort. I asked what options I had with Gamestop, and he said that if I picked some other stuff to purchase right then while I was there, he would apply the full $27 to it :)

Do you have the receipt? We're suppose to honor them until Jan 15, on account of Xmas.

Yeah, unless you bought it in like October or something.

Damn, that is pretty tiny.

My store is an ex-EB store so we have all the counter mounted 360 and PS2 displays and a PS3 and Wii floor unit so it's pretty crowded on the floor and counter all the time.
