I picked this up for AU$10 (about US$8) - cartridge only - at a local second hand games store recently. Steal!
nickfil wrote:Thing is- N64 games arn't that expensive. You could pretty much buy everything you wanted for the system around the same price as this cart.

unless it played DD games. Which... as far as i could tell... it can't.

Lets break it down.
Prices for N64 complete in box games

The games you list are all rather generic western release titles. There's a lot more to a good N64 library than just those.

And either way, flash carts aren't a replacement for original cartridges. I have tonnes of original carts for a stack of old consoles, and flash carts for many of them (yay Tototek). I love collecting originals, but flash carts are a nice way to try games you're not sure on, or to play titles that you can't get a hold of yet for one reason or another.

It's not an either/or thing. Flash carts are a great investment for even the most avid collector.

Does it support multiple games on it at once? I apologize if this is easily answered by the site, but it is blocked at work.

If it does I wonder if it supports the hacked roms, like the Perfect Dark with Goldeneye Maps (vice versa) and the Fzero X roms with fanmade tracks. If it does on both accounts, well $200 is a bit high, but I would be tempted. Carrying around a spare N64 and a single cart is better than a couple dozen carts. And the Fzero fantracks are just sick.

Looks like you can put up to two games at once on it. At least, I think that's what it means to say. Since you can't load the page, I'll post the contents for you...

what's come with the retail box:
* NEO N64 Myth flash cart x1
* NEO Myth 512M flash cart x1
* USB link cable
* Drive CD

--------------------------------------------------------------------

It also looks like you have to plug a real N64 game into the back of it in order to boot it. This plus the fact that it can only hold 2 games doesn't make it the best flash cart, but from what I've read N64 flash carts are hard to produce. It does say that it supports all save types and can play EVERY game.

As far as mods and hacks go, as long as the mod or hack doesn't contain anything that the console wouldn't like (putting something in the ROM that would work in an emulator but not on real hardware) it should work OK.

I don't really care to get a flash cart for the 64, so I think I'll pass on this one. There should be more N64 flash carts to choose from in the future. I'm still happy that this exists though, I love to see this sort of thing.

Thanks Ziggy.

Ill wait until they can have more than just two roms on it. Granted I really dont need one (I am only missing a handful of N64 titles that I want) but the ease of use for travel/lan parties could be worth the money.

Yeah, it doesn't quite have the software support yet, and you'd need a larger memory card to have many roms on it. They're working on SD support via the Neo2SD card which would be a separate purchase.

However, if you buy now you can save $40 or so if you get in on the group buy we have going on at UG. We're still looking for a couple people, and I can invite you're not a member yet. (offer only valid for racketboy members who have been around a while and have a clue or two :) )
