I wish I still had the PS2 i could get the model number, I sold it almost a year ago for my ps3. I don't remember it coming with a network adapter. But i do remember attempting to install my first modchip on it.lwcook wrote:Niode wrote:]
To my knowledge no retail unit ever came with a bundled HDD. You had to buy it seperately with the FFXI + network adaptor + 40GB HDD bundle.
In fact I don't even think there was ever a phat PS2 bundled with a network adaptor.
There was a PS2 phat sold with the network adaptor. I believe it's the Scph-5001 models that were...I only know this because the one I bought new has one. They were the last PS2s to be sold before the slim came out.
PS2 Mod?

If it didn't come with a network adaptor, then why the hell did it come with a hard drive? Are you mistaking it for something else?

VERY unlikely. Perhaps you're confusing a hard drive for a network adapter.DNT 2.5 wrote:Mine was built in, out of box it came with a hard drive.Breetai wrote:No. They don't. They are not built in. Yes, there was. I've seen them for sale in both North America and in Japan. It was definitely not standard, though. In fact I don't even think there was ever a phat PS2 bundled with a network adaptor.

Re: PS2 Mod?
There was nothing like that in this country. Which doesn't surprise me since a lot of network play games never worked correctly. I think Sony just abandoned the idea of online play in Europe. The infrastructure barely worked anyway. Trying to play games online on PS2 was a joke. Especially EA games, ironically the biggest supporter of network play on PS2, needed a new account for every single game you wanted to play. Having to type in registration details on a PS2 pad for every game you wanted to play online is beyond tedious.

My Local Game store put together bundles, they were the ones who most likely threw in the hard drive.
