I just moved to Windows 7 64 bit. I was using Ubuntu.

Windows 7 has been great so far. First worthwhile upgrade from XP IMO.

Ubuntu was a giant POS. I have been using Linux distros on and off for at least 14 years now and it is by far the worst. Lots of file corruption and bugs. Very disappointing.

Now I guess the question is why do you run that OS?

I know XP inside and out, enough that Ive "hacked" a terminal at a McDonalds (they left the shift key available) and have rebuilt the driver hives by hand. Eight years of using something for several hours a day does that.

Work is obvious. Mandated by the boss.

The netbook got EEEbuntu since I wanted a linux variant that would allow me to not worry about errant programs running in the background. I could nlite an xp install and run it in a limited account, but it was just easier to run linux. My Eee only has 4 gigs built in so space is a premium.

The Imac is a 400mhz G3, so OSX runs like a dog on it, and so does the last version of OS9. UbuntuPPC was simple enough to install and get up and running, but sadly it does not support flash. I wanted it to do two things - show the inspiration image(s)/images I am working on, and run Pandora. It does one of those really well... If I could get flash to work on it, or on OS9 for that matter, it would do everything I would hope it could do. I may just gut it and throw in a ION pc.

I also use Knoppix like a fiend. It is my favorite Linux build.

Actually does anyone have any experience with Linux MCE? I have had no luck installing it on one of my test boxes.

Debian Sid with an XFCE desktop on AMD64.

Windows XP at work, with Cygwin installed, a Terminator terminal emulator, and VirtuaWin for virtual desktops. It still sucks.

There are definitely things Windows is better at, but I like the UNIX workflow so much better. Just pop open a terminal and move files around from there, or launch apps, etc.

Fastbilly, have you tried Sidux? I like it a lot more than Knoppix.

I havent even heard of Sidux. Giving it a Google now. I may add it to the "oh shit" tool set.

Edit:
I mostly use Knoppix for data recovery and other such screwups that others have caused to their windows box. Sidux looks to be a better OS for general use. Though I may be missing something.

I use Win 7 because it came on my computer and it is easy to use, though it is taking me a little bit to get used to after using XP for so long.

I also use Android 2.0 on my phone if mobile OSes count...Of course that came on my phone. I tend to use whatever is there I guess.
