I got a bit of everything...some saturn games from grittykitty (well, I got the money to buy 'em from him), some PS2 games (Guitar Heroes 2, Shadows of the colloseus, God of War, God Hand), some GCN (Lego Star Wars 2, Super monkey ball two) and some GBA/DS games (rocket slime, mario and luigi DS, castlevania portait of ruin, FF5) along with some CDs, a T-Shirt, and a book of guiness world record stuff. Really been loving Lego Star Wars 2 co-op and GH2! :D

All that, plus a wii if we ever get around to find one w/o putting two much effort in it (eg. just walk into target and buy one, no need for strategies )

Seasons greetings!

I didn't get any game-related stuff except a Japanese art book of Clover Studio’s ‘Okami’.

I tend to buy all my games myself as my girlfriend is pretty useless with these things :)

I did buy my bestfriend/housemate a mint boxed Dreamcast, joypads, rumble, extra memory etc and burnt him the best 20 games. He hasn’t left his bedroom since Xmas morning haha… except to say ‘Oh my God, …. Thank you!!!!’ and then he slopped off to get back on Shenmue, Jet Set, Rez etc …

Reminds me of when we had a Die Hard Game store in the area- A guy came in wanting to return an import game that his girlfriend had bought him. He kept going on about how stupid it was, and she was right there, just about ready to cry. I thought to myself:

A) Your girlfriend is buying you a video game.
B) She cared enough to try and get something unique by importing.

Just smile and suffer through the game!

But for the most part, I agree with 4ppleseed. Don't make your loved ones try to find the right thing, unless it's readily available at a department store.

I got a "5.5th" gen 30gb iPod, $100 from my grandma, $150 in gift cards (which I used to get the iPod AV kit, and a webcam), some socks, some crappy blank CDs and DVDs from thoughtful family members (at least they tried), and Guitar Hero, which I now love with a passion.

Pretty good for being 23 :)

Actually surprisingly my NOW ex-girlfriend picked out some all right games for the Xbox360 though she was a none-gamer. I wanted call it great, but Kameo is really fun and I wouldn't of dared buy it if she hadn't asked for it. Downside is she sucked so bad at it we got in a fight

no not me taunting her... she was complaining that she wasn't as good as I was. I've played games for 2 decades, her for 2 days. Who do you think is going to be better? She proceeded to have to get drunk to 'cope' and I got pissed.

I think that's really the biggest reason why people don't get into video games. They aren't instantly good at it, so they shrug it off as stupid, when the people who are good at the games, like us, we've been playing them for a while and have played quite a lot of different ones. then again, we also know that we aren't necesarily good at everything, so we find what we are good at and stick with it. Or at least try hard to get better at the things we are bad at. Basically, they have low frustration issues.

thats the exact issue she had... she needs to be perfect at everything she does or she won't have anything to do with it.
