Where do you get the old OS's?
Legally? Buy them. Illegally? BitTorrent.
That's what I was afraid of. I suppose I was hoping to find a plug-in or something for the virtaulbox program. No such luck.

I don't think anyone would be too bothered if you downloaded windows 95. Personally I'd be much more concerned if you paid for it.

^ lol, for real. But if you really feel bad about downloading Win9x, you can pick up a copy for VERY cheap on eBay.

Thanks. I quickly reviewed the DOSBox website, and it looks like it's for use in games that were originally on DOS. What about games designed for Windows 95/98?

For reference, I bought the Diablo Warchest several years ago, so I installed Diablo 1 and while it ran, the FMV was crap and the info bar along the bottom was all screwed up.

Good advice, thanks.
I use Virtual Machine to install Windows 95. I've been successful at running Daggerfall with it. You need a copy of Microsoft Virtual Machine, a copy of Windows 95 and the addon file of win95 for Virtual Machine. The advantage is that you can run the OS as a window. I have not used virtual box or others. If you're worried about license issues with Windows 95 you could probably find a copy on any flea market or just ask around someone will have one. I have around 6 copies with different versions. I would mail you one but different country it's quite expensive :(
Thanks everyone...

If you have an active .edu email address you might be able to get into Dreamspark and get Virtual PC for free - Legally.

Personally I nicked a 500mhz box out of someones trash and just threw 95 on it. Makes all of this easier.

Hey, this is really cool!

I am looking to play Dungeon Keeper, McGee Alice, and Theme Park(does not run well in dosbox), which version of Windows shall I run?
95,98,2000, or xp?

I got xp , but I heard it has problems with Dungeon Keeper. As far as I can remember 98 was scary to use, with every imaginable fault integrated in the system.

I'm not concerned about buying a copy of it so much as figuring out a way to find a decent torrent and setting it up (it's not like M$ is going to get my money even if I buy a legal copy, lol). Moreover, it sounds like a hassle... and I never went through the trials and tribulations of installing OS's prior to XP. I can only imagine that it would be as fun as shooting yourself in the foot.

EDIT: Of note, I'll give it a shot since I can't do anything detrimental to my computer, but I'm not too optimistic about getting it running well. Maybe I'll surprise myself. I did build my PC from sratch without any significant hiccups.

It won't do anything to your computer, but aren't you concerned about your foot?
