Its best just leave all systems that are out before the xbox alone, pretty much those servers extinct by the time PS3, X360 came out.

Tony Hawks American Wasteland is still VERY active, due to someone having a dedicated server running

Any Socom game i think is still active

Killzone has lots of players still

Call of duty 3 is up

You need to buy a config disc. They're cheap and on eBay.

freemcboot your ps2 and download the config disc.

Xbox Live for Xbox games has been shutdown (or will be shutdown imminently, I'm not sure when it's happening I just know it is happening) so getting the Xbox online is out of the question, getting xlink Kai to work for the few LAN supported games on Xbox is tricky. I could only get it to connect every 1 in 5 games.

PS2 has very few supported servers. I know that all EA games have been shutdown.

Gamecube had even less games that supported online. Those servers have probably been shutdown by now, and I know for a fact that the EA owned servers will have been disconnected same as PS2.

DC requires a broadband adaptor which are hideously expensive (ie £100~ each), unless of course you have dial up internet (unlikely these days).

The official Phantasy Star Online servers have been shut down, but there are fan servers where you can play on GameCube and I believe Dreamcast. This is one such project: http://www.schtserv.com/. I tried one of the fan servers a while ago, and it worked OK, but I haven't tried recently. I don't think it was as stable as the official servers, but it more or less worked.
