Earlier AESes use a regulated 5V power supply so you definitely don't want to use a model 1 Genesis power supply or similar. Later ones use a 9-10V power supply and you can use a Genesis power supply with those. You don't need to look at the serial number to tell them apart, just look at what's on the sticker above the SN. If it says "PRO-POW" you need the 5V PSU, if it's "PRO-POW-3", "NEO-POW-3" or "PRO-POW-E", you need the other PSU.
