Well that's a different case, you're connected to either a wireless router, or just a modem with WiFi and that's definitely a different setup. Come to think of it, it's actually possible that the PS3 has a similar setup, a little unlikely, but it would be a pretty awesome feature.
I'm still basically just speculating though. I'd like to hear a definitive answer on this, I just don't know where it'd possibly explain this. Goddamn sony voodoo!
