I Need Reliable, Accurate Information
Re: I Need Reliable, Accurate Information
Yeah my college's site has a database with a lot of reliable info, but I can't recall exactly how to get there. I suppose I should have found out how before the night before I needed some information. I'm a horrible procrastinator.
Re: I Need Reliable, Accurate Information
There was a thread on "should pot be legalized" on a forum I talk on, it went on page after page. I'm sure there's a lot of bull shit in there, but also a lot of good points. If you wanted to bother to read through all of it, I could get the link for you.
Re: I Need Reliable, Accurate Information
You could have the most well written and reasoned essay possible. However, your teacher could very well be tired of this essay. I recommend the legalize hemp paper (easier to argue and harder to dislike). However, NORML and MPP websites have a lot of great information.
Re: I Need Reliable, Accurate Information
I already have plenty of ideas on things to discuss. That's not the problem. It's just a pain finding information lol. Right now all I'm focused on is the history of the various uses of it.
@GamerMON
My teacher approves of this topic. In fact, she's the one that suggested someone in the class should do it, and I shot my hand up.
NORML and MPP?
Also, it's probably easier and less boring to write 8-10 pages on why marijuana should be legal than on hemp paper.

What college do you go to, and what's the URL for the library's website?Overload wrote:Yeah my college's site has a database with a lot of reliable info, but I can't recall exactly how to get there. I believe you go to academics > library services to begin with.
EDIT: I got here http://www.bristolcc.edu/Academics/libr ... s_comp.cfm Now it's a matter of figuring out which is the one I need.
I think I'm set. I'm just going to hop around in these databases.

Yeah, those are all good databases to check. You might have some crossovers, but that's ok. You should be fine.Overload wrote:http://www.bristol.mass.edu/

Sorry, I completely missed your point then! My bad.Limewater wrote:I was actually trying to be helpful. hightimes.com isn't a very good source. I was kind of joking when I made my post, but kind of serious. Both the pro and con sites tend to have a ton of conflicting information and little regard to factual accuracy.
Best advice!A more serious suggestion to the OP: If you really want to write on this topic, I suggest you try and track down some of the actual scientific and medical research that has been done. Actually read the research papers-- don't just read some journalist's interpretation of the papers, because journalists usually don't know what the heck they're talking about when it comes to discussing actual research. This is true on any topic-- reporters aren't competent to write about scientific articles.

Re: I Need Reliable, Accurate Information
Erowid has plenty of information on the effects of Marijuana.
As someone else said, I recommend actually referencing the articles found there.

Re: I Need Reliable, Accurate Information
I think every college debate/essay class ever has had someone do a marijuana legalization paper. My advice, go to the library. Check out Marijuana Reconsidered by Lester Grinspoon. He's an MD, impartial, and backs his shit up with science.
