Yea, I've been waiting for the 1969 3D version as well, with the Austin Powers Jaguar.
I miss that too.AwesomeMonstar wrote:C'mon, no ones gonna mention the incredibly announcer that's been gone since 2?

i personally cant stand GTA IV, vice city and san andreas are two of my favorite games.
Re: Nagoshi is not a fan of Grand Theft Auto
I mostly find GTA-style sandbox games boring as fuck. I feel adrift in them and when I find something I'm supposed to do, I wonder why I should do it. And when I complete a mission, I'm back where I started. That's just fucking great.

2 was great on the pc for lanparties. Insta-gang and a bus is a dangerous combination.
That is biggest thing that I did not like about the PS2 versions. They had this great lanparty waste of time, and then they 86 the multiplayer. Granted San Andreas let me have a bicycle and a lawnmower...

Re: Nagoshi is not a fan of Grand Theft Auto
I honestly didn't care much for San Andreas, and I don't really know why. It might be that it's a case that proves "Less Is More", because it tried to do too damn much.
The again, I would like for the GTA games to do more, just in a different way.
Let's take GTA4 as an example, since I assume most everyone here has either played through it or decided they aren't interested in it, so I won't really be spoiling anything. (In other words, Spoiler Warning)
What if, instead of VIPs only showing up during specific missions, they were always present? Including that special someone Niko is looking for? What if, instead of friends just being pre-determined, you could befriend anyone on the street, to use as a contact for finding targets such as that special someone? Instead of getting calls that just annoy you with activities that lead to no where, they can actually help you achieve your ultimate goal?
What if you could leave and enter mobs as you please? Instead of being forced to work with the Italian mob, you could just work with them right up until you get to the Peg - and then shoot him right there. He's dead, and you've just gone from the Italian's Favorite Lap-Dog to their Main Marked Man. Maybe now, you can work for the Triads or some other gang that you've only had experience exchanging bullets with.
What if, instead of going to a mission start point, getting a target and having a bunch of blips appear on your map, you were just given a photo and told what area they usually hang out around? Maybe you comb through the area looking for them yourself, or maybe you go up to random people on the street asking "Have you seen the guy in this photo?" Don't be surprised if you accidentally ask one of their bodyguards, and now you've got yourself into a fire-fight.
What if, instead of failing a mission and having to do it all over again, exactly the same way, you just had to live with that failure? You failed to kill Mr.Target at the Night Club, so he obviously won't show up there again - now you need to find out where he's hiding out at.
What if killing people at random had actual consequences? What if, instead of eluding the police meaning they forget all about you, evasion means that while the search party has been called off, it still wouldn't be a wise idea to let a police officer see your face?
What if, instead of prison and hospitalization simply meaning losing your guns or a lot of money, it meant that you would spend months to years in the can or in a bed? Obviously, the game should just skip ahead, but shouldn't this also mean that certain friends have forgotten about you, or that certain contact would want to distance themselves from you? Maybe you could have a choice - either spend 3 months hooked up to some machines and get better, or leave as soon as possible with the cost of permanently reduced health, or some other side-effect? You could attempt to break out of prison so your friends don't forget about you, but the cost would mean every 1 out of 10 citizens that sees you would call the cops on you?
While I liked that the GTA series has really ramped up the emphasis on story lately, I think that it has made them forget to develop the very area of the game that people loved about it to begin with: Freedom. Freedom to do anything and everything that you want.

Re: Nagoshi is not a fan of Grand Theft Auto
I enjoyed III the most. I have vice city and San Andreas (though I've never played it) and seeing the similarity between the games I didn't want to put more time into a new game. I sometimes did missions, but in GTA III I liked collecting the cars in the garages so that I could pick up any vehicle when I wanted to run around and fuck shit up. I'm sure the others had similar things, maybe even better, but it was always easy to pick up III and have fun.
