J T, as I mentioned before I don't think anyone should be ashamed (or that anyone should offend) for paying 0.01 for it. Perhaps that should go for those that pirated the game for 0.00 :P Note the devs still made some bucks from all the "cheapest" buyers.

Personally I contributed to the 3rd column. I have played one level of the game so far since I purchased it. I intend to play it more eventually of course. I presume I can always donate more money to them later if I'm really impressed with the game if I want to - but if I paid more and then become disappointed I'd be hard pressed to reduce the amount donated :)

I think it is likely that some of those who paid for it during this promotion had pirated "for free" before).

EDIT: in fact I now went and read that Paypal "absorbed" the would-be profit for any donations under 0.30 - this changes things, but it is something that 2D boy should have explained to the customers and IMO it would be completely justified to place the minimum at (say) 0.50. I'm personally glad I paid enough for them to make a (small) profit out of my donations anyway.

Hhhmmm, that is something that I didn't realize would happen. I do feel bad for paying only 1 cent, but I feel that they knew it would happen, which is why they didn't set a minimum, and that they didn't mind because they were celebrating the anniversary. It is a genius move. Probably most of the people who are going to get the game had already gotten it (for 20 bucks), so why not throw caution to the wind with this great deal. You end up hooking in a lot more supporters, perhaps people who never would have even tried the game otherwise, who will remember how cool the company is in the future and how great their games are. In the future, they will probably have triple the sales on their next release. It is all about exposure at the early stage - like bands giving out free demo tapes!
