I found it! Completely on accident too. I was looking at some Youtube videos and saw this.



Midnight Wanderers. I LOVED this game! The boss that I was talking about is at about 5:00 into the video, but he doesn't roll into a ball as I remembered. He is a huge troll thing that looks kind of like the predator.

Ah yes, I never play the puzzle game for some reason, but the other 2 are excellent.

I was actually looking at that midnight wanderers game a couple weeks ago. I tried downloading it but I needed that extra mame file that lots of arcade games have. Can't remember what it's called (or where to get it)

Is it a CHD? I know I don't have any of those files.

They did port this game to the Saturn, but I'm almost certain it was only released in Japan under the name of Arcade Gears 3: Wonder 3. I've been playing it all day, and the lack of English doesn't affect the experience at all.

BTW, the shmup part is AWESOME! I never played that part as a kid, but I've been having a blast with it today.

Where did you download the game from? I have two files, one is called 3wonders and it's about 2.5 megs. The other says 3wonderu and it's 349k.
