Norton pisses me off. It really does just drag your computer down. Everything about it is seems superfluous. At the very least they could do me a favor and allow me to delete the zip files that it downloads for the updates. Those alone take up around 2GBs of space.

I've always used AVG and have only had minor problems its better than spending a bunch of money on norton etc those programs often hurt pc performance to!

I've been using Avast! for years now and have not had a single problem yet! All of this and realtime scanning of your system, plus almost daily virus definition updates and almost no footprint.

Best of all, its free!

I'm going to have to second this. I believe this is the best free anti-virus software out there as it has always caught potential threats and on occasion fixed a computer once it was subjected to a virus. Of course, the best practice is to be careful with what you do online so you don't have any problems that you would need an anti-virus program for. . . .
