halloween music playlist suggestions?
Re: halloween music playlist suggestions?
Bach is awesome. See if you can find Edgar Meyer's performance of the solo cello suites on double bass. He tears that shit up!

Pretty much every original Misfits song and a few of the new ones. Samhain/Danzig also has some great Halloween-esque songs. Another cool band to check out are The Riverdales. Their latest album has all songs that are based on old horror movies. Some of the titles include: Castle of Fu Manchu, Time of the Apes, Atomic Brain, Crawling Eye, Teenage Strangler, Werewolf One, and others. Another band that sings about horror movies are the Groovie Ghoulies.

Skinny Puppy/Download/Doubting Thomas, Especially the Puppy albums "Cleanse, Fold & Manipulate" and "Mind: The Perpetual Intercourse".
Most of Raymond's output as Pig.
Pre 1992 stuff from Laibach. Its more militaristic, but also very heavy and opressive.
Sisters of Mercy - Floodland
The Crow soundtrack. And by soundtrack I mean the score by Graeme Revell, not the collection of crappy pop songs that get called soundtracks these days.
And of course the most cliched of all, Bauhaus.

Re: halloween music playlist suggestions?
Bach never wrote music for the piano. He was friends with Silbermann one of the earlier piano builders so he got to try one out, he actually disliked the piano when he tried one calling it a clever toy not capable of polyphonic enough sounds to replace the harpsichord. He wrote on the harpsichord and organ and maybe the clavichord. Plus all of Bach's works were written for God and church. Catholic Churches regularly play his works on All Saint's Day Nov. 1st the day after Halloween.Luke wrote:Bach, Toccata Fugue in D minor. It's all you need. You pop in a cd of Bach organ music, and the mood is set.
Bach is my favorite composer, mostly due to the fact I love playing classic piano, and even his "easy" compositions are challenging.
Modest Mussorgsky's Night on Bald Mountain would be the perfect piece of classical music. It was written about the Witches' Sabbath. If you have seen Fantasia its the first part of the last song or played the Hell level in Earthworm Jim you've heard it. Nothings better for All Hallow's Even.
Where's my chippy? There's my chippy.

from what i remember the soundtrack from that movie "Queen of The Damned" was pretty dark and moody, good for halloween.

He rarely wrote music for the piano. I know plenty about the guy, like I said, he is my favorite composer. From what I've read about the musical interests of the average member here, I'm the only one who listens to classical music on a daily basis.
Re: halloween music playlist suggestions?
you'd be wrong about that last part. my girlfriend makes fun of me for picking up classical records frequently at goodwill. just picked up orff's carmina burana and some debussy piano concertos.Luke wrote:Wrong.pepharytheworm wrote: Bach never wrote music for the piano.
