have you not watched the science channel when they talk about a tsunami hitting the west coast or yellowstone erupting? why tempt fate? in texas at least you are safe from those disasters waiting to happen

I grew up in Redmond (microsoft territory), just outside of Seattle, before moving east for school and now my current job. Seattle has the highest percentage of adults with higher degrees (Bachelors, Masters and Doctorates) of any city in the US. The recession has not not affected the area, and many of those very qualified people are looking for work. But that should not discourage you. With your background in computing, instead of looking at the typical technology locations (Amazon, Microsoft, dot coms, etc) look at the growing sector of the city, biotech. Ive been in biotech for not quite a year now, but I can tell you that the number of people being employed are extremely heavy in peoples with computer backgrounds. I hope that helps. Oh yea, the Pacific Northwest is beautiful, kind of a plus!
