How are guitar hero and ddr any different fundamentally? They both involve using a peripheral to press a button(or buttons) in time with music.

Guitar Hero went mainstream and sold out, but DDR stayed mostly in the realm actual gamers.

Plus DDR is fundamentally nerdier and more fun that GH or RB.
