I have a Plasma 52inch TV and the DC looks great... well that was until my VGA box went out. I tired it on a CRT monitor, and it seemed to look a little duller on it. I may have been deceived by the size difference, but I would have to go with LCD?Plasma being better for the DC VGA.

Jesus Christ that's a big crt monitor.

Agreed, how much does it weigh?

My nice 19'' NEC CRT weighs around 50 pounds due to it's Steel Aperture Grille and true flat tube so I'm guessing you're in the 80-120/30 rage depending on your tube's type and density.

The 36" inch Gateway is 218 lbs, and it feels every bit that heavy. I got it off freecycle with the only stipulation being that I had to be able to lift it to move it. At my old house it went in my basement mancave. I used a makeshift sled to get it down.

It was even more fun getting the thing out when we recently moved. Driving the U-Haul across three states made me nervous as hell each time I'd hit a bump in the road thinking I'd just killed my baby. Somehow getting something for free makes it almost seem to be worth more. Luckily all was fine when we arrived at the new place and it is now happily in place in my new mancave. One of my most prized possessions!

Besides the Dreamcast with VGA and Xbox 360 also with VGA I have all my other consoles hooked up through the TV card on my PC and run games using Dscaler. Makes all the games pretty.

I should have make the question more understandable. I was just wondering would it look better on a 19" CRT or a 19" LCD? I really just want to, I either well hook up my dreamcast at my desk with my lcd, or put a CRT monitor in my room.

I have a 24" VGA CRT (FW900), so it's a moot choice, really. It weighs 90 damn pounds, but inch for inch there are very few televisions out there, anywhere, that are better (though size does, indeed, matter). XBR960 trumps it, of course, and there's another television I'm forgetting that even gives the 960 a run for its money...

CRTs have deeper blacks (true black), faster response time (less ghosting), better colors, and more resolutions (non-Native resolutions on LCDs have a tendency to degrade quality moreso than with CRTs). I think CRTs show the most dramatic superiority to LCDs with gaming and color reproduction (photography) in particular. LCDs primary advantage is sharpness, which applies more to text than pictures.

The future is in OLED, SED, or FED. I hope, anyway. Still won't help with light guns though, dagnabbit. Sensor bars just aren't the same.

Don't get me wrong -- I love CRTs -- my main TV is a Slimfit HD CRT.
But while the colors and contrast are better on a CRT, sometimes I want more clarity, which my LCD (PC monitor) provides.

Well the Dreamcast runs at 640x480 which means that the CRT would be at it's lowest resolution resulting in an extremely sharp image, clarity only becomes an issue on CRT's when you're at extremely high resolutions.

Clarity wouldn't really come in handy for a Dreamcast though. 2D games or high resolution with tons of anti aliasing would probably look good but not DC's 3D games that were meant for televisions with composite. More imperfection would show up through an LCD it would seem.
