Best 2d and 3d games in Nintendo's most popular franchises?
Re: Best 2d and 3d games in Nintendo's most popular franchises?
I've already replied, but I just wanted to say that this is a rather ambiguous question. The "best" from each series may not necessarily be the one I would pick if I could choose only one.
Systems: TI-99/4a, Commodore Vic-20, Atari 2600, NES, SMS, GB, Neo Geo MVS (Big Red 4-slot), Genesis, SNES, 3DO, PS1, N64, DC, PS2, GBA, GCN, NDSi, Wii

If I were to narrow it down, best gameplay should be the main criteria in terms of most responsive controls, best level design and of course fun. Not necessarily looking for the most innovative in the series.
The reason I was asking this was because I was never really into nintendo games and my impression is that within each franchise most of the games are pretty similar in gameplay. I acknowledge the innovation of super mario bros 1 and super mario 64 but don't really enjoy the games. I find the controls of smb1 to be not responsive enough yet I didn't have a problem with super mario land on gameboy. So I'm just wondering which games are worth the extra effort on my part since maybe the later levels that I never play are really great and one of a kind experiences not available in other games in the same series.
