I did actually try to genrefy my collection, but I never did see how it broke down. This covers most of mine, some I didn't come up with a classification. Obviously huge grains of salt needed.
101 - action
81 - adventure
7 - beat em up
2 - robot sim
25 - game compilation
22 - tournament fighting
5 - flight sim
4 - fps (those are for PC

)
6 - light gun
1 - music
13 - pinball
35 - platformer
46 - puzzle
14 - racing
3 - rail shooter
22 - rpg
53 - gun n gun
214 - shmup

Think that's about it so far. Dunno the exact numbers of games since I've not counted recently. I have multiple controllers and 4 way adapters for all apart from the PS1 coz it's all about the multiplay action
