i patched the game on a pc this time, and the results on my elink cart were much better! very impressed :)

some things i've noticed that don't seem right (at least on my hardware):
-when link dies, the death whirl sounds plays twice - it starts again near the end of the first time the sound plays with a little overlapping.
-when link falls down a hole, the sound is correct but i also hear link's muffled sound when he gets hurt at the end, when the screen turns black
-when swiping my sword in quick succession, i sometimes get a strange "squeak" sound after the final swipe

these are the only problems i've noticed thus far. the jumping off a cliff sound is a little weak, but i think it's passable. but i think this patch is great! i frankly see this worthy as a public release so far, even if in beta form. maybe that way it'll be easier to get exposure and thus have more people test it out on actual hardware. anapan, if you get time after your big job is done with, keep us up to date!

The death sound may be able to be fixed in the redo, but my 2 previous attempts weren't successful. The original sound had 3 different hurt breathing-type sounds with big gaps of silence between them. I think that the game plays the sound sequence twice at once with a delay but I might have a way to fix that.

The falling down a hole sound seems to have that second sound triggered automatically. Probably not correctable.

The third problem is probably easily fixable. I encountered that during testing and it's probably because I accidentally overwrote part of the header data for that sound or maybe the sample rate's just really low. If not I'll just mute it and have silence for that only-played-occasionally sound.

I want to attempt at least re-rendering the cliff sound but I haven't been able to find any solution for it's length. I have something in mind to try there.

I've been working for about 22 days straight at nearly 80 hours a week with no time off yet or in the foreseeable future, but the job will end - the end is in sight; At least that's what my co-workers who've been here for 6 months keep saying...
