Its funny how I find half of these games to be immensely overrated, some are even total garbage, but when I look at any top 10/20/25 for Dreamcast, I generally agree completely with whats on it. I guess I just wasn't really part of the Sony audience. Most of it's AAA titles just seemed completely unoriginal to me.
And GTA:SA is #1? Fuckin' fail. I know this is IGN, but even so, there is no excuse for this. The game is just awful. When are they going to come to their senses? IGN's reviews of GTA3, VC, SA, and 4 always seem to blatantly state that it's the greatest game ever made. I don't know what drugs these butt-fiends are on, or what paychecks they are cashing, but this shit has gone on long enough. Come to terms with reality, please.

Re: IGN new list of top 25 Playstation 2 games
Very surprised on some of the games on this list. Katamari? I love it but top 25 is too much, gets boring after a few hours. Guess I need to play some Jak games!!! I would have given God of War top spot but I don't care much for GTA but plan to play them sometime. Burnout 3 is well deserved, most fun in a racing game I had ever.
Consoles: NES, Famicom, SNES, GC, GB DMG, GB Pocket, GBC, GBA, DSI XL, N64, VBoy, NDS, 3DSXL, Wii, SMS, GEN+CD+32X, GG, SAT, DC, WS, WS Color, NGPC, XBOX, 360, PS1, PSone, PS2, PSP, PS3, 3DO, CD-I, NGCD, Actionmax, TG16+CD, TE, PCE-DUO, Odyssey2, Playdia, 2600, Lynx & JAG.

I'm glad Silent Hill 2 made the list. In terms of survival horror, it really was some of the best. And I felt VF 4 deserved far more attention than it got, so I'm glad to see it get some respect.
As far as San Andreas is concerned...I've always felt these games were meant to be taken as extremely tongue-in-cheek. Yes, the graphics in the series jumped in GTAIII and pretty much stagnated until the next console generation, the controls can be awkward(and that's being nice), and the physics make almost no sense. The themes are immature, and large portions of the fan base are only there for the drugs, sex, and violence, but the game did give an openness that I liked.
As soon as I started the game, I wandered all over the first area on a bicycle, just exploring. I tried an arcade game. I stole a riding lawnmower. I shot a few hoops and beat up a few strangers, and then went joyriding and did tricks in a massive storm drain in a stolen taxi cab. I even bought a new hat to commemorate the trip. The game was perfect for goofing off in a lot of ways, with a little variety. I don't think it should be number 1, but I certainly enjoyed it as a fun little romp.

tbh the only post GTA2 I found interesting was Vice City just because of the 80s Miami Vice theme, but as a throwback to the old school GTA games Chinatown Wars was entertaining while it lasted. Saints Row did 'perfect' this gangster sandbox genre (or whatever they call it) with tons of customisation options and wacky events which as far as I'm concernd left the rather pretentious GTA4 in the dust.
Not such a bad list from IGN at any rate.

I think Tekken Tag deserved to be on that list. It was so much better than the Arcade version

I always thought comparing a RPG to a Shooter is stupid so I don't like those lists very much.
BTW Mozgus, what games on the list do you think are total garbage? And yes, I shouldn't ask.
