Are there any other pros to widescreen LCDs for PCs?

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

After reading this thread I had to double check the date. It sounds like this conversation took place 3 or more years ago. Hasn't widescreen easily become the norm by now? The only TV show I can think of that still does 4:3 is Gintama. Hell, they were making fun of themselves for that a few months ago because they know how unusual it is.

16" Is horribly small for a PC monitor. That would make the screen size for 4:3 content around 12" or something I bet. Widescreen isn't your problem here. You just need a bigger monitor period. I recommend buying a 24" widescreen monitor. That way retro games would still be pretty big.

You would have the same size problem with modern media on that 15" 4:3 monitor. Widescreen content would appear very small on it.

It's a matter of what are you going to do with it.

If for gaming pick a 4:3 they are increasingly hard to find but they are better for killing things.

If not 16:9.

I don't like to have my games streched, when playing TF2, for example, a wider screen doesn't give me more field of vision so it looks ugly.
