I actually really enjoyed the Library. And fighting the Flood sure was a helluva lot more fun than constantly shooting those stupid little Grunts from the Covenant, which had dominated the game up to that point.

For sure, The Library reminded me of Marathon. Not to mention it was actually challenging.

I have never been a huge FPS person, but I really enjoyed the Halo games. I liked the story, and thought the campaigns were a lot of fun. Especially Halo 1 on campaign. If you want to get the full story, and want part 2 and part 3 to make any sense, you kinda do have to play them and finish them in order. 3 was great for me, because it tied up all the loose ends from th first two games. My friend played 3 first and was always asking questions about why certain characters did certain things.

I don't much care for playing multi-player online for extended periods of time, but it is actually fun when you are just playing with your friends, all three of them are great for that.

All the Halo games run on Xbox 360, in fact the system's backwards compatability emulator was specially adjusted to make Halo 1 and Halo 2 look much better than they even did on the original Xbox console. So, there's a "for Halo" opinion for you, from a gamer who plays FPS, but not very much or very aggressively. I mainly play them for the campaigns.
