ah yes. quite a good example to say to anti wii-fanboys, when they say wii hardcore games (like no more heroes) would sell better on the PS3 or 360. That game came out on 3 hardcore systems (PS2 PC and XBOX) yet sold on none of them.

Exactly. I bought my Wii for two reasons: a Mario platform and a Mario Kart, and I got both of them. To my surprise, Nintendo is giving me two more Mario platforms.

Exactly. Why is that so hard to figure out?

For real, I really don't understand these kind of comments...

What? What is there to get? I don't understand.

Wow, some silly fanboy comments in this thread, eh? Guess everyone is entitled to their opinion... but might as well stoke the fire a little bit.
;)

Congrats to Nintendo for being able to see a huge (55%) drop in console sales for July compared to last year, and yet still be kicking the ass of their competition. When they can have a terrible month and still be the best in the business, it's obvious that 360 and PS3 can't compare to the awesomeness that is Wii.

Oh yeah, and I've personally found that there are more interesting titles on Wii than it's competitors this generation, not to mention the best retro support by far. The number of AAA-quality titles is considerably less, but that is offset by the massive amount of inexpensive, quirky oddball stuff that I actually have fun playing.

So does that make me part of the problem? Don't worry, I won't spit on you and your distant second-place console as I pass by...
:P

Looking at my collection, the Wii far outnumbers the PS3 and 360 in terms of games. It doesn't help the other two that a large portion of their high-regarded titles are FPS/TPS games which control horribly without a mouse and keyboard. The Wii understands that it is a console and plays to the strengths of a console. The 360 and PS3 are trying to encompass all games and as a result with the current focus on the "hardcore" shooters they aren't getting my dollars.

I agree about FPS titles. After spending some serious time with PC shooters, I just can't stand dual analog controls... even though many console gamers swear by them.

The Wii remote is awesome because of the pointer functionality. I'm also very fond of the built-in speaker. Motion controls are useful once in a while, but definitely the least interesting innovation IMO. Of course, that all depends on game design - Bit.Trip Beat had incredible (and incredibly simple) use of motion that improved the game greatly.

I got a Wii a year ago and the only games I played using it (other than Wii Sport and Brawl which was bundled) was Red Steel which is an illegal copy.

Yes I am cheap, but the games are not that exciting either. I really rather play Bioshock or Fable or RE5 than BoomBlox or trauma center. It makes sense right?

But I think the Wii has its advantages. Its the cheapest console right? It gives experience of motion control lacked by other consoles. It lets you play all the GC library, all the genesis-snes-nes-turbografix-neogeo and more games(using homebrew). Plus it has some decent games itself Like Galaxy and NMH.

The Wii is really different, but my problem with it is not the bad games its the let down I got. I really thought we were going to get hardcore games using motion control. I don't want HD graphics, I wanted a new experience. If you look back at launch titles and titles that were coming to Wii , they were all about using the motion control(Recall how amazing Wii Sport was) but now it is a system with games to shake the wii mote and do kiddy motions with it. Total let down.

Maybe ps3 or 360 will bring what I was wishing for.

I don't understand: what kind of motion controls did you expect? Motion is the most novel part of Wii controls, but also the least useful in a general sense.

The only practical examples of motion controls that I can think of are sports games, which have been covered reasonably well. (Golf and Tennis games in particular go a long way towards justifying owning a Wii, as do a couple of the light-hearted racing games.) Beyond that what "hardcore" applications of motion did you want to see? Sword fighting is the big dream for many people, but 1-to-1 controls weren't possible so it really wouldn't be a great game.

Oh, and it would seem a bit hasty to judge a console after only playing 3 games. Everyone enjoys different types of games, and there's nothing wrong with that. Wii also isn't the best choice for everyone. But it's not an "insult to gaming" either. LOL

I don't really dislike Wii, but motion controls are just not my style. I like playing with a normal controller, I don't really see whats wrong with Xbox 360 games? Their is plenty of great games that are that aren't fps, I guess its just preference.
Systems: Sega Dreamcast(x2), Sega Genesis(x2), Sega Saturn, Sega CD, Genmobile (portable Genesis), FC Twin, PSX, PS2(x2), GBA, SP, Xbox 360, N64, Showcase Arcade

I can see where you're coming from with this, there've been times I've not played something because I couldn't be bothered punching thin air or whatever (Bully on Wii being a recent example) Sometimes the motion can feel tacked on, but the first party developed stuff and games like Mad World and NMH are better games for it.

They keep them in the stockroom. Trust me they have too many to hold over for Christmas.

Frankly I am tired of the term hardcore to refer to games and not people. Does not harcore mean intensely loyal or extremely explicit. I like a variety of games that some people consider casual. How can a game be casual? if I spent the last 6 months playing wii fit for hours a day would i be a casual gamer or hardcore gamer?

if you hate the wii dont get one or sell the one you have. then maybe their is more for thoese who do want one. I am a fanboy of games not systems and every system has a game I want. except the VIS.
