all 4 of the final fantasy titles are great but if you like rpg's and like what squaresoft was the ps1 era is amazing (right next to the snes era for square/squaresoft). the games they threw out were really top quality. xenogears, chrono cross, brave fencer musashi, einhander, Ehrgeiz (some might say this sucks i personally disagree), Bushido blade 1&2, tobal no.1, saga frontier 1&2 (also arguable),threads of fate, parasite eve 1&2, Chocobo's Dungeon 2, vagrant story, and my personal favorite FRONT MISSION 3 (plus a few more titles that i decided not to put because i got lazy  )!

you mean 4!
You're forgetting the best one, FF Tactics!

nah. Tactics IS a great game, but it has nothing to do with previous and later installments in the series. It's a series of it's own just with the FF name and likeness. Likewise, Mario Kart rocks, but I wouldn't compare it, or count it in the same series, as mario galaxy.

Glad someone else feels this way. I didn't like FFX nearly as much as the PS1 entries either.

I'd like to add that Ape Escape holds up very well.

mostly what killed the fun for me, was when I found out FF10 doesn't have a world map. WTF is that about? I loved the world map. flying around in my airship, finding new locals by luck ect. ect.

also I think Final Fantasy worked great with a pre-generated backround and 3d models walking on it.

PS2 final fantasy games, look empty by comparison.

P.S

but what actually made me stop playing FF10, taking the disk out, putting it in it's case, and returning it to the friend I had borrowed it from is this part:

I'm not kidding about be stopping the game that very instant
fuck you square and your terrible voice acting.

though FF12 had excellent voice acting (I wish I had Balthier's voice and accent)

Neither do previous or later installments of the FF series proper. And hell, Tactics has Cloud in it! That makes it more related to FF7 than both 8 AND 9.

.......i'm not talking about story.

the defining aspect of a game is the gameplay.

So, what, Dragon Quest is a Final Fantasy game now because it has a menu-based jRPG system? There's nothing about (most) Final Fantasy games that ties them together other than the name, they're all self-contained.

he means the main series. no matter how you see it tactics is a branch of the series. but to be fair tactics is set in the same world of a current main series ff.

why are you so angry about this? I'm just saying tactics ain't a part of the main series, and it should be a series of it's own. I don't think it even needs the FF name on it. I'm not saying it's a bad game for christ's sake
