Get the 2000, the screen doesn't have the scanline issue that 3000 has and it has TV out, which is great by the way. If your TV has a zoom feature the TV out is not worthless. Believe me I'll show you pics tommorow with the PSP doing TV out, its pretty cool if you know how to use the zoom feature on most HDTVs.

Have you ever used the TV out to play a game?

It windowboxes the image to a size only 1/6 of your TV, not to mention you can only output games in 480p mode and you quickly realize that it's a useless feature.

Again, use the ZOOM feature on your HDTV, for me it looks great and fill most of the screen.

The problem with that is with the way the PSP outputs the signal some non-Sony HDTV's can have a hard time interpreting it's specific signal (designed to prevent PSP owners from using their PSP's as substitute PS2's) and fail to zoom the picture (My JVC HD CRT, and my friend's Samsung LCD both simply display the smaller picture regardless of whatever zoom setting the TV is on), not to mention cause border burn in from extended play on CRT TV's.

I dunno modman, looks like a great feature on my HDTV in my bedroom. Theres a little border on the top and bottom due to the aspect ratio, but looks great and it plays emulators as well! Its like my little ultimate gaming machine. My Fiance and I play when where in bed and it makes for a great time. Image

I own an XRGB-3 and it mentions having a zoom feature specifically for the PSP. Thanks for your help everyone. The 2000 model is looking good to me right now.

I think the 2000 is best tho I've never owned a 3000. I only had problems with a few games being letterboxed more than a little bit on my Bravia 36" - most can be zoomed to fix the letterboxing completely.

hold up, my TV has stretch, dot by dot, super stretch and zoom modes of view. with this I can set a game to play nearly 100% of the screen and it looks pritty swell if you ask me. not PS3 quality but it's cool I can do it.

also movies play fine off memory stick too. those that I have transferd via Media Manager Pro look fine to me.

so the TV out is definatly usefull imho and nice to have if your away from home. the only thing that sucks about the TV out is the PSP's screen goes black when it starts the signal to the TV.
Ocelot, did it again...sorry Boss !

I have the PSP 2000 which I really like. I bought it for the TV Out feature so I can bring movies with me on the road. It's the family portable "DVR". The games are also cool.

I also recommend that you get a couple of those PhotoFast CR5400 Dual SDHC MS Pro converter. They let you put a couple of SDHC cards into your PSP. As you probably know, Sony's memory is overpriced. In order to use this, you need Custom Firmware (CFW) because it lacks the magic gate feature.

I'd go with the 3000. The 3000 has scanline issues, but it's not as bad as they look in screenshots when you are actually playing, and it has an output that works with non-HD TV's, instead of only HDTV's like the 2000. The 3000 also has better colors. Games intended for the 2000 look washed out on the 3000 because of this, but you can fix this by setting the screen settings to original colors and brightness, instead of the more vibrant 3000 specific settings.
