Clearly, they deserve a $ in their name. Since they are trying to make money, and thus are evil. Just like EVERY OTHER COMPANY.
I'm sick of people thinking Microsoft is some terrible company, purely because they provide a good product that the vast majority of users are willing to buy. They are not an illegal monopoly, they do not buy up all of their competition to further said monopoly. We live in a society that rewards hard working businesses. I guess just like to hate (more often then not from their Microsoft Windows machines...)

Ummm, many could make the debate that capitalism, at this point in time with current manipulation trends of taking advantage of the misinformed consumer, yes, every other company IS evil. Not every company is infamous for this like microsoft is, though...and some also don't have an "s" in their spellings.

Ok, you're sick of people complaining about the 360? Why oh why, as a fellow consumer, would you EVER support that ticking time bomb of a console? It's like buying a used car that you KNOW is going to blow up in a month/year, ie not worth it. I will agree that many users are willing to buy it, but, with the massive amounts of money Microsoft is making off those same people, it is a slap in the face that they don't even attempt to fix the problem and no, the stupid falcon/jasper chipsets do not count. They could have easily provided a solution that actually works 99% of the time, whereas microsoft is giving us increments of 1-2% less of a failure rate, ie, not any improvement at all. A redesign is all that is needed but, since the cost of refurbing the consoles is less than actually producing a new console (or at least, thats what they're sales analysts must be teling them) they will continue to take advantage of the misinformed consumer and, even if "everyone else is doing it", that excuse will NEVER make it right (no matter what subject matter you're talking about). It's just a shady excuse used by shady people to somehow look past their own actions and it's one of many things keeping the human race at a non-progressing pace.
And just because everyone keeps buying it doesnt make it a good product. Its a crap product with good GAMES.

You have not justified their actions one bit. It's sounds more like YOU like to act like microsoft in the way that you like to take advantage of people and, if you can somehow convince yourself that Microsoft is in the right of doing this to people, then your actions are right as well.
Oh, and at least when windows eats crap, i can reformat. It's not the same as hardware melting itself to death AT ALL. People like you are scum.

Do you have hard numbers as to the failure rates of the 360? I know I sure as hell don't. All I know is that the people I work with who have one (including myself) have had no problems with the console. My boss recently asked me about it, since his kids want one but he's heard of the failure rate. I told him that at this point in time it's probably safe to get one, since they have a good warrenty and they've taken strides to improve things. But really, if you went by what was publicised then you'd determine that everyone's 360 will RROD and not one of the World of Warcraft subscribers feel the game is good. People with complaints will always be the most vocal, even if they only make up 1% of the populace. Of course, as I mentioned, I don't know the failure rate of the 360, all I know is that it's low enough and their warranty is good enough that people keep buying it.

You have not justified their actions one bit. It's sounds more like YOU like to act like microsoft in the way that you like to take advantage of people and, if you can somehow convince yourself that Microsoft is in the right of doing this to people, then your actions are right as well.

How has anything he said indicated that he takes advantage of people? It's been trendy to bash Microsoft since the Blue Screen of Death. But somehow they've managed to be the most common OS by an extremely large margin. Clearly they are doing enough right to get that kind of initial mindshare, and their products seem to deliver well enough that people aren't seeking out alternatives.

I've never heard of an X-Box having problems like this. I don't think they've been under warranty since they were discontinued in 2005(2006?).

Original Xbox had it's warranty and repair services through Microsoft ended just a few months ago this May.

I think the biggest issue for a forum full of retrogamers is what happens to the 360 in 2015, when the warrenty is long expired. How many will have succumbed to the ravages of time? It isn't that hard to snag a cheap Atari or NES, but how about snagging a cheap 360 20 years down the line?

Point taken...I hope MS releases remodeled 360 sometime soon. It would be really nice not to be scared the system is going to blow up each time you turn it on.
