Yeah, I think that people in the future will be introduced into a society that's much more autonomous and conservative. These things ebb and flow.hashiriya1 wrote:Self-serving, self-righteous, easily-entertained, fat, lazy, high, with an unjustifiable sense of entitlement. That's my generation, woooooo.

You mean your first car was a fossil fuel car?
...
You were around when ipods were popular?
...
What's a "Pentium"?
I hope to live to 107. Then I could claim to have lived to see three centuries.

So.. you're saying they used, what was it, flak drives before they had data spheres?
You mean that you actually had a stand alone monitor for broadcasting? Your computer didn't just do it?
I could go on all day.

A couple of months ago, my school had a "decades day" where students were supposed to come in dressed like a particular decade. I came in as the 90s, and here's what I wore:kingmohd84 wrote:I tried a lot to think of how future generation will look back at us and think WOW that is so 90's or 2000'ish, but I can't identify any single style or icon.
Brown/Black flannel shirt (Which I would be wearing now if it wasn't so hot)
Black denim jeans
White T-Shirt under flannel
...
In fact I pretty much looked just like the third guy in that Mallrats picture.

That's pretty much what I look like every day. I haven't changed style since 1995.

I think you forgot the ones we'll all have to explain the most.Dylan wrote:What the hell is a cd?The Apprentice wrote:You mean your first car was a fossil fuel car?

What's a wire?
So you're trying to say that rooms had light switches and everything was manual with buttons?
Well then, what's a button?
So these VHS thingies were magnetic?
Floppy disk......so they were foldable?
How big were these....what did you call it, TV's?
Analog?
If I ever become a hacker 30 years from now I swear I'll use floppies and Windows 98 to store all my data like that one guy on Ghost in The Shell.

Yeah, I throw on an extra button up over the t-shirt on cold days. Or sometimes, I even wear the button up under the shirt.Hatta wrote:That's pretty much what I look like every day. I haven't changed style since 1995.
Christ, plaid helped describe my generation as much as 16-bit video games and comic book collections. Also...pop culture references and gangsta rap.
I suspect the 2000 era will be seen a similar to the 60s with the New Wave/"Global Warming" hippie thing going, which makes me want to hurl. I really haven't enjoyed this decade, it's been pretty crappy.

Re: Fun Topic. Our generation's perception in the future
Well, here are some big things I see happening now that people will maybe comment on in the future:
Reality tv and procedurals have taken over the airwaves and it seems like serialized tv is slowly dying
We have a non-white president
Between social network sites and youtube, people will look back and talk about how the internet let everyone think they could become some kind of internet celebrity and how privacy become less and less of a concern for our society.
Perhaps, the rise and proliferation of motion control in video games will be a topic of discussion when people look back. Perhaps the first steps towards moving games into true realism and even eventually making them as mainstream as movies and music.
The death of analogue tv and many games going the direct download route. The increasing number of web based shows and series and web comics. Seems like this really was the digital age
If you believe some people, future generations will look back and talk about some big event on 2012, but I guess now we're going into the 2010s rather than the 2000s
The death of the "King of Pop" is a significant event that will be remembered as part of the 2000s. It's about as significant as the death of guys like Elvis and Bruce Lee.
That's all I can think of
