It was my first japanese game for the Saturn. Got it like-new for about 5 bucks  Best puzzle game EVER imo. Insanely fun.

Well, I'm only collecting for Gamecube and Gameboy systems right now. So I'm not gonna participate this month. (Before you ask, yes I have a computer, no I'm not gonna download the rom and an emulator).

Anyway, I might use this as an excuse to grab a copy of Super Puzzle Fighter since I never got it, and it has been described as an almost-clone of Baku Baku.

I've played this game. I didn't find anything really to recommend it above puyo puyo. Having to juggle both food and the animals that eat it was a little more than I want to deal with in a falling block game.

BTW, Wikipedia says that Baku Baku was published for the Master System in 1998. What's up with that? The Master System was 12 years old and the Genesis had been out for 8 years.

To my knowledge it caught on very well in South America, so they released it there on the most popular console for the area.

Granted that could just be a rumor, even though it makes sense.

good eye. As far as I can tell, Baku Baku and Mickey's Ultimate challenge were the last 2 games produced for the SMS. Both in 1998.

Yeah, it was published by Teco Toy. They published a lot of games for the SMS late in Brazil and other similar markets were the Master System was still quite popular.

I only played this game on my one of the Sega demo discs that came with my Saturn. I don't like it very much, it's just a Puzzle Fighter type game with annoying animal faces.

BTW, what came first? This or Puzzle Fighter.

If my memory serves me right: Baku Baku was 95, Puzzle Fighter was 96

The animal faces can be a little bit of a turn-off at first, but I do like the concept with the animals/food. It's a good workout for your brain.

I think it would be cool if they did a XBLA/WiiWare/PSN remake with better-looking illustrations
