Games that are harder in the U.S/EU than in Japan
Re: Games that are harder in the U.S/EU than in Japan
When Battletoads was brought to Japan it was localized by another company (Mayasa or something like that). They made the game less difficult.

No because the console and the game are different.Mod_Man_Extreme wrote:Aren't games usually harder in Europe due to being slowed down or sped up by the 50hz Pal refresh rate?

From what I usually read European games usually play at different speeds from their US and Japanese counterparts.

You mean it was harder to listen to our lame VRC6-less music.Dylan wrote:Castlevania III was harder outside Japan too.

Yeah, we got ripped pretty hard on that. I guess there wasn't anything they could do though, with the NES not having the same chip compatibility as the Famicom. Lame.Mod_Man_Extreme wrote:You mean it was harder to listen to our lame VRC6-less music.

^The thing is, the game draws more frames per second but the TV does that too so the speed is the same.

That's not how it works. If the game isn't reprogrammed then the game outputs 50 frames per second (as opposed to the 60 it was originally programmed at), which means that everything will be happening slower.General_Norris wrote:^The thing is, the game draws more frames per second but the TV does that too so the speed is the same.

He is speaking about European games (Which are reprogrammed) not mixing regions.MrPopo wrote:That's not how it works. No, I'm talking about exactly what Mr. Popo said as to how some games were harder due to not being reprogrammed for PAL refresh rates.General_Norris wrote:He is speaking about European games (Which are reprogrammed) not mixing regions.MrPopo wrote:That's not how it works.
